Qualification Description

This program has been designed for participants with senior management experience within a learning and development environment, who want to formalise this experience and/or extend their skills and knowledge in the management of learning. As a post-graduate qualification, it also provides a pathway towards a Masters-level program at a University.

The Graduate Certificate in Management (Learning) reflects the roles of individuals who apply substantial specialised skills and knowledge in the field of learning and capability development. In these roles, candidates are required to make significant high level independent judgements in major planning, design, operational and management functions within a learning and development setting.

The qualification specifically relates to professionals or managers in registered training organisations (RTOs) or a Senior Schooling environment, seeking to advance organisational learning and capability.

Career Opportunities

This qualification will support leaders and managers in any organisation where learning is used to build capacity and harness learning to enhance existing practices and thinking, workforce capability and career development.

Specifically, this qualification is geared towards advancing the capabilities and careers of:

  • Learning and Development Managers;

  • Learning and Development Consultants;

  • RTO Managers; and

  • Senior Leaders in a Secondary School or College.

  • enhancing outcomes for learners.

Further to this, it recognises the professional leadership required to improve organisational learning, and the quality of training and assessment products and services.

This includes:

providing strategic leadership in a dynamic context;

  • designing, developing and implementing an organisational learning strategy;

Course length

Learners should expect a duration between six and twelve months (600-1200 hours) to meet the requirements of BSB80515, which is consistent with the AQF volume of learning indicators for a Graduate Certificate qualification.

However, the final duration will depend on the study mode selected. For instance, it is likely that RPL candidates will complete in a much shorter time frame, given that they will be engaged in mainly portfolio-building activities to support their claim for competence, rather than a learning and assessment pathway.

The Issuing RTO
